Within a square, ‘bism Allāh al-raḥmān al-raḥīm / ʿabd Allāh al-imām / Abū Fāris / al-Wāthiq billāh / amīr al-muʾminīn’ (‘In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. The Servant of Allah, Imam Abu Faris al-Wathiq billah, the Commander of the Believers’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘innamā yurīd Allāh / liyudhhiba / ʿankum al-rijs / ahl al-bayt’ (‘Allah only wishes to remove uncleanness from you, O people of the House’ in Arabic; Qurʾān 33: 33).
